FAMILY MEDICINE FACULTY
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking to hire faculty physicians to join our talented team. Our department is committed to continuous improvement in patient care, education, research, and service. We are actively searching for individuals who can contribute to our mission of high-quality patient care, excellence in education, and the progression of science through scholarship.
Aside from direct patient care, faculty will have the opportunity to pursue academic interests such as the following:
- Teach a variety of courses within the medical school curriculum
- Educate learners within our Family Medicine residencies and fellowships
- Conduct research and scholarly activity within an institution that had $774.5 million in grant funding in FY23, and includes potential collaborators such as Precision Medicine, the Center for Exercise Medicine, Preventive Medicine, the Lakeshore Foundation, and UAB Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC)
- Continue to develop our expertise in Precision Medicine, Value-Based Care, Leadership in Medicine, Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), Digital Health, and Lifestyle & Exercise Medicine
Consideration will be given to board-certified MDs or DOs for full-time positions. Positions are twelve-month, open rank, open tenured faculty positions. Rank and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

A pre-employment background investigation is performed on candidates selected for employment. In addition, physicians who will be employed by the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation (UAHSF) or other UAB Medicine entities, must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen to be hired.
