The Role:

The HR Specialist provides essential support to the Human Resources function by coordinating day-to-day HR activities across employee relations, HR administration, and compliance. This role serves as a trusted resource for employees and managers, ensures accuracy in HR processes and records, and helps drive consistency in HR operations. The HR Specialist plays a key role in supporting compliance, operational excellence, and a positive employee experience.

What You’ll Be Doing:

HR Support & Administration

  • Serve as a resource for employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain and update employee records, HRIS data, and personnel documentation to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
  • Assist in coordinating HR programs, employee communications, and engagement initiatives.
  • Prepare reports, monitor HR metrics, and provide data to support business decisions.
  • Support HR projects and continuous process improvement initiatives as assigned.

Employee Relations Support

  • Assist HR leadership in addressing employee relations matters by gathering information, documenting concerns, and ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Provide guidance to employees regarding company policies, benefits, and HR procedures.
  • Support the administration of performance management, corrective action, and other employee relations processes.
  • Escalate complex or sensitive matters to HR leadership as appropriate.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture through consistent application of policies and effective employee support.

Compliance & HR Operations

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies.
  • Support HR audits and maintain required personnel documentation.
  • Ensure HR records are complete, organized, and retained in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Participate in the implementation and improvement of HR processes to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0 – 3 years of experience in Human Resources with a solid understanding of HR practices, employment laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting HR administration and maintaining employee records and documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience working with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Experience supporting employee relations, compliance, and HR programs or initiatives.
  • Knowledge of HR reporting, metrics, and process improvement practices.

Where and When You’ll Work:

This is an in-person role located at our Columbus, IN office—ideal for those who thrive in a hands-on, team-oriented environment.

What Your Total Compensation & Benefits Package will look like:

Wage - $24.51 - $31.42 per hour. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.  

Relocation: This role may be eligible for relocation assistance.
