Job Description
We're looking for a licensed smog technician who knows their way around a lift and doesn't need to be babysat. You'll be performing BAR-certified smog inspections, light repairs, and diagnostics on vehicles model year 2000 and newer. Our shop runs lean and tight — which means your work actually shows, and we're not interested in cutting corners or padding tickets.
What You'll Do
- Perform state-certified smog inspections (gas and diesel)
- Conduct OBD II diagnostics and visual inspections per BAR standards
- Perform oil changes, fluid services, and light maintenance
- Assist with DMV registration renewal processing
- Maintain accurate records and customer documentation
- Keep your work area clean, safe, and OSHA-compliant
- Current California BAR Smog License — required, no exceptions
- Minimum 2 years of smog inspection experience
- Working knowledge of OBD II systems and emissions diagnostics
- ASE certification a strong plus
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
- Ability to work Saturdays (Sundays always off)
- Professional, punctual, and a team player
- Starting at $35/hour — more for the right experience
- Monday–Saturday schedule, closed Sundays — every week
- Small team environment where your work is seen and valued
- Stable, locally owned shop with experienced leadership
- No corporate nonsense, no revolving door management
Salary/Compensation: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour plus commission
